Who is that Masked Man? Tree Hill fans know!
Gnaw on this silver nugget: Over the last half-century, only ONE actor has played The Lone Ranger on television . . . The CW’s very own Chad Michael Murray. That surprising bit of trivia emerged this week, after a major film studio announced its plans for a big-screen remake. Original “masked man” Clayton Moore hung up his spurs and white hat in 1957. Then nearly five decades later, between his gigs on Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill, Chad filmed a lavish two-hour drama tracing the mysterious western hero’s early life, similar to what Smallville has done with Clark Kent. Here’s a lengthy clip from that 2001 TV film which some hoped would lead to a new series. After seeing Chad each week in a modern soap, it’s almost surreal (but definitely fun) to watch him fend off bandits from teen Tonto’s beautiful sister. For Chad groupies, it’s a must-see bit of nostalgia—he looks great. This Monday night, of course, Chad and his One Tree Hill friends move into their ideal new timeslot following Gossip Girl. You can relive the series’ 100th episode—the “eventful” wedding of Lucas and Lindsey—this week, with six fresh episodes beginning April 14. Hi-ho!
