‘Free To Be Green’ campaign in high gear
This fall, The CW made a big environmental commitment, pledging to weave at least one ecology message into each of the network’s series. We’ve already seen an example, with Top Model conserving water and going smokeless. Hey, a little education with our entertainment can’t hurt. Going a step further, CW stars are now featured in clever PSAs which deliver some surprising facts. I certainly never realized that 25 billion disposable cups and 100 billion plastic bags—in the U.S. alone—are thrown away every year. Or that 62 million trees are harvested annually for those 17 million (often unwanted) catalogs we get in the mail. That’s a lot of waste piling up in landfills! Each promo also gives viewers an easy way to help make a difference—reusable cups, recycle, unsubscribe, etc. Today, WBNX.com launched a new Go Green! page with lots of great tips on conservation, plus a look at The CW’s public service spots. Check it out here…and like Clark Kent, let’s all do our part to “save the world.”
