America’s Next Top Model kicked off its ninth cycle with 33 hopefuls boarding the Love Boat bound for Puerto Rico. By the end of the hour, 13 finalists remained…with most of the other 20 sobbing like their lives were over. Three contestants quickly stood out for their unusual qualities: Ebony, Mila and Sarah. Every season seems to have a mean girl with far too much attitude—and that’s Ebony, flat-out. Mila? She’s an overly-bubbly trainwreck…you just can’t look away. And Sarah is caught somewhere between “normal” and “plus-size,” and the judges didn’t seem to know what to make of her. I hope these three stick around awhile for the entertainment value. From first impressions, my Bottom Three are Lisa (last girl chosen, first to go), Chantel (nothing special) and Victoria (sweet, but not a top model). My Top Three are Janet (a natural beauty and very pleasant), the down-to-earth Saleisha…and my choice to win it all: Bianca. She has a strong resemblance to Brandy Norwood, with great features and a nice smile. Bianca is not very well-spoken, but she’s confident and wants to win very badly. What are your thoughts after the first installment?
